DzongkhaNurseryRhymes. The Ministry of Education launched a CD on Alui Trolu a collection of nursery rhymes in Dzongkha in Thimphu, today.

The Dzongkha Curriculum Officer of Education Ministry, Dorji, said Alui Trolu has been a part of the syllabus for the Pre-Primary till third standard in the schools around the country. However, without a standard tune for Dzongkha nursery rhymes, it failed to catch-up as expected.

Alui Trolu is expected to change that. It has a collection of 35 Dzongkha nursery songs.   Of the total, 20 nursery rhymes have new tunes. The new tunes were composed by a Dzongkha teacher from Babesa Middle Secondary School in Thimphu, Sonam Tenzin.

“The composition was difficult as we had to come up with tunes liked by children,” he said.

The nursery songs were sung by nine youth singers including popular child singers.

At the Launch, certificates and prizes were awarded to singers and tune composer. A copy of CD will be distributed to primary schools around the country. It is also available at the Education Website for free download.
