NA accepts former PM's resignation

JYT--REsignation-Accepted.The National Assembly accepted the resignation submitted by the former Prime Minister and the MP-elect from Nanong-Shumar constituency, Jigmi Y Thinley. The acceptance of resignation was officially announced this morning.

Tshogpoen Jigme Zangpo said the writ or a court order has to be issued to the Election Commission to have by-election for the Nanong-Shumar constituency within the 90 days of vacancy.

“Now this declared, the writ has to be ordered. So, now we have to submit the report to His Majesty the King declaring the Nanong-Shumar as a vacant constituency,” he added.

Also while announcing the resignation speaker mentioned that Jigmi Y Thinley’s service to the Nation for more than four decades had been laudable. He thanked Jigmi Y Thinley for his contributions in the first democratically elected Parliament. Jigmi Y Thinley submitted resignation to the National Assembly on the July 31.
