Truck-load of illegal sandalwood seized

Illegal-SandalwoodParo Forestry officials seized a truck-load of illegal sandalwood from Lango on Sunday at around 10.40 pm.

The illegal timber had been smuggled in from India, since the wood is not available in Bhutan. Around 800 kilograms of sandalwood hidden under construction bricks were confiscated by the officials.

The offender will be fined Nu 750 per kilogram for the sandalwood.
