Cycling-against-drug-abuseTwenty one cyclists took part in an advocacy bicycle rally to raise awareness on ill effects of drug abuse. The rally flagged off from Nazhoen Pelri Centre in Thimphu to end in Paro, yesterday, on the International Day against Drug and Illicit Trafficking.

Recovering addict, Dago Tshering, 23, currently working as a peer volunteer at Chithuen Phendhay Association in Thimphu said he felt proud to be a part of the rally.”It is motivating to be part of something that you believe in,” he said.

The Youth Development Fund’s (YDF) Senior Program Officer, Kinley Tenzin, said they were trying to achieve two things at a go. “First, we wanted to raise awareness. We also wanted to promote healthy living,” he said.

The rally was organised by Bhutan Narcotics Control Agency in collaboration with YDF and Chithuen Phendhay Association.
