Nation observes Guru Rinpochhe’s Birth Anniversary

GuruRinpochhe's-Birthday.Thousands of Bhutanese visited Lhakhangs and monasteries, on the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpochhe today. Guru Rinpochhe was born on the 10th day of the sixth month of the Monkey year. Legend has it that he appeared miraculously from the blossom of a lotus in a lake called “Ocean of Milk” in South West Oddiyana, which in present day is Pakistan.

At Dechenphodrang in Thimphu, people gathered to offer prayers as usual. Thousands of people visited the courtyard of the Tashichhodzong to get a glimpse of the Throngdel and get its blessings.The memorial Chorten in Thimphu also saw many visitors today. The devotees were allowed to enter the Chorten and visit the upper chambers.

Schools, government offices and institutions remained closed to observe the day.
