DPT- Campaign- THimphuDruk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) launched their campaign for the general elections, this afternoon, in the capital. DPT supporters and residents from North and South Thimphu constituencies attended the campaign.

Launching the campaign, the DPT President, Jigmi Y Thinley, shared that the people in the capital play a key role in setting an example to the rest of the country’s population.

The DPT president also spoke about the party’s manifesto which is based on equitable and sustainable socio-economic development. The gathering was also familiarised with the 11th five year plan’s main agenda to reduce the poverty rate to 5 percent, to address rural urban migration, and developmental activities at the gewog level.

The DPT president added that many untrue things have been written about the DPT as a party and its performance as the erstwhile government in some media. He said it is the people’s responsibility to carefully examine whether this is true.

The president also said the same media and some other people have tried to create disharmony between the eastern and western regions of the country as well and that firm action should be taken against such malicious acts.  DPT’s candidate for North Thimphu constituency Kinga Tshering, and South Thimphu constituency’s Yeshey Zimba and the party’s vice presidents were present at the campaign. Tomorrow, the DPT president will campaign in Paro.
