A Counsellor wins National Level Open Scripting

Kuenga Tenzin, a Counsellor of Loselling Middle Secondary School in Thimphu, won the English category of National Level Open Scripting. His script of, ‘Curse of Drapa Caste’ was pronounced the winning script from the 14 scripts submitted.

‘Once upon a time in Drugyul’, took the second spot. It is written by Namgye Phuntshok, who is a second year student with Royal Thimphu College.

In the Dzongkha category, ‘Dutsel’, took the top spot. It is written by Dorji Penjore, a third year architect student in Thailand.  Choeje Jamgon, written by Sonam Dorji took the second spot. Sonam Dorji is with the National Institute of Traditional Medicine.

The winners and runners-up were awarded certificate and cash prize of Nu. 100,000 and Nu. 50,000 each, respectively .

The Department of Information and Media under the information and communications ministry had organized the contest. A release from the department says the purpose of the competition was to recognize the important roles scripts play and to stimulate originality and creativity in the film industry, among others.

The Department received a total of 14 English and five Dzongkha scripts.
