School-building-in-need-of-repair--ZhemgangBarely three years after its construction, the two-storied-classroom building for the differently-able children at the Zhemgang Lower Secondary school is in a terrible condition, says our reporter in Zhemgang. The classroom floors have cracked and so have the windows and footpaths.

It’s been only two and half years since the three-unit classroom building for the students with special needs was constructed. Over Nu.2 million was spent for the construction.

Zhemgang Lower Secondary school is currently fixing the floors. It is costing the school about Nu.200,000. The school says it doesn’t have budget to carry out other repair works.School-building-in-need-of-repair--Zhemgang--Classes-in-Pavilion

People refused to speak on camera but did question the quality of construction and are blaming concerned officials for failing to monitor the construction while it was being carried out.

The Dzongkhag engineering section, however, says the building was constructed before the present district engineer took over and therefore it is not in position to comment on the quality of construction.

Meanwhile, as renovation works are being carried out, classes for the physically challenged students are being held in this pavilion situated just near the school’s football ground.
