LPG-gas-InterceptedUnder the joint coordination between the Phuentsholing police and Customs, a truckload of Liquid Petroleum Cooking Gas cylinders was intercepted at the main border gate yesterday.

The truck bearing Indian registration number, after being intercepted by the police at the gate, was handed over to the Phuentsholing Customs.

It was carrying 50 filled cylinders and 250 empty ones belonging to one of the LPG distributors in the country.

It was worth Nu.95,000.

According to the statement of the distributor, the cylinders were being transported to their depots in Gomtu and Samtse.

However, Customs officials said since the distributors had not complied with the Customs formalities of obtaining a transit form from the Customs checkpost before exiting the main gate, it was a case of deflection.

The distributors are liable to pay applicable fines as per the Customs rule or have the consignment confiscated.
