Dorokha Dungkhag court has sentenced a teacher of Dorokha Middle Secondary School to nine years and three months in prison for raping a minor.
The 24-year-old teacher was arrested in November 2012 for maintaining sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
The teacher has argued that the relationship was consensual but under the law, a girl below 18 years of age is considered a minor and therefore the act constitutes as statutory rape.
