Don’t lose votes to corrupt people: Dorji Choden

DNT-TrongsaThe President of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa, Dorji Choden, who is on an election campaign tour, met with the people of Trongsa on Saturday.

During her campaign meeting with the people of Trongsa, which lasted for about half an hour, Dorji Choden stressed on the importance of voting for the right party.

“The elections are at our doorstep. Once again, it’s an important time for every Bhutanese. It’s time to be serious and think serious. Everyone has to be careful not to lose your votes to corrupt people,” she said.

She told people not to give in to those who try to votes by offering bribes.

“You also should not let politics create divisions and tensions in the society. I hope and pray that every one of you have the wisdom to understand democracy clearly. And that may all have the wisdom to use your scared votes wisely.”

President Dorji Choden also stressed on the importance of women’s participation in politics.

She said one of the prime concerns of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa is to further strengthen democracy in the country.
