The Trashigang National Council elect, Dasho Dr. Sonam Kinga, has been elected as the Chairperson of the National Council this morning. He secured 15 votes out of the 25 votes cast. The other two aspirants were Gasa elect, Sangay Khandu, and Pema Gatshel elect, Jigmi Rinzin. They secured 8 votes and 2 votes respectively.
The National Council also elected the Deputy Chairperson. The Haa elect, Tshering Dorji, secured 25 yes votes. He was the lone contender for the post.
Meanwhile, the members will be administered Oath or Affirmation of Office today.
