The nomination process for the National Council’s Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson is complete. Pema Gatshel’s Jigmi Rinzin, Gasa’s Sangay Khandu and Trashigang’s Dasho Dr.Sonam Kinga have been nominated to stand for the post of Chairperson.
The nominee for the Deputy Chairperson is the NC elect of Haa, Tshering Dorji. Kaka Tshering from Paro withdrew his candidature.
The nominees was finalised today.
The council elects will cast their votes tomorrow to elect the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson during their first sitting of the National Council. But, since there is only one nominee for the post of Deputy Chairperson, he will be elected through YES or NO votes.
