‘Voice for Shar Dhargya’ for Wangdue Phodrang

Tashi-DorjiTashi Dorji, 31, secured 5,848 votes including postal ballot. He had promised to be, ‘a voice for Shar Dhargya’. He says he is aware that the purpose of democracy is best served when the people have a voice in their day-to-day lives.

Tashi Dorji had said he was contesting with a belief that a good law is the pillar of a sound democratic polity and must, therefore, be penned by those with highest integrity and knowledge.

Tashi Dorji has worked as the CEO of Bhutan Nyinzer Expeditions and has been an Independent Consultant with Rubin Museum of Arts in New York.  He has also worked as the Protocol Officer with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The former NC MP Sonam Yangchen could secure 3,540 votes including postal ballot. Another contestant, Chador Namgay, secured 723 votes.
