Marichman Rai, nominated by Samtenling Gewog in Sarpang, has withdrawn from contesting from the National Council elections as he is a registered member of the political party, Druk Chirwang Tshogpa. He says he was not aware of his registration as he had been registered by a friend without his knowledge.

He added that he knew of his registration only after election officials informed him after the Gewog Zomdu.

Sarpang Dzongkhag now has five candidates contesting in the upcoming NC Elections.

Phub Lham, the only female candidate from Damphu Thomdey in Tsirang, has also withdrawn her candidacy from the National Council elections.

The District Election officials say Phub Lham did not fill the nomination forms as she could not produce the required documents from the court and from the Royal University of Bhutan.

Tsirang now has six candidates contesting in the upcoming NC elections.

April 3  is also the last date of withdrawal for aspiring NC candidates.
