RTC Women FC began its AFC Women’s Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Banaat FC of the United Arab Emirates, in Uzbekistan yesterday. They took the lead in the first half, but the UAE side equalised after the break.
RTC Women FC made a positive start to its AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27 preliminary-stage campaign, earning a point against Banaat FC.
Janista opened the scoring for RTC in the 27th minute, finding the net with her left foot following a direct assist from goalkeeper Jaqueline.
However, Banaat FC continued to push after the break and eventually found the equaliser in the 87th minute, heading the ball into the net from a corner.
The late goal meant the two sides shared a point from their opening Group C match.
RTC’s Debora was named Player of the Match for her standout performance.
RTC will now face hosts PFC Nasaf on Thursday before taking on Master FC of Laos on Sunday.
RTC are representing Bhutan in the continental competition after winning the Bhutan Women’s National League. The preliminary stage features 24 clubs divided into six groups, with only the six group winners advancing to the Group Stage.
For RTC, the tournament provides an opportunity to test themselves against stronger opposition in Asia and compete for a historic place in the Group Stage.
