The domestic contribution drive for Project 108 will close on August 21, after receiving more than Nu 17 M from Bhutanese donors. The project, which aims to construct 108 Jangchub Chortens in Gelephu Mindfulness City, will, however, continue to accept contributions from international donors.
For the past three and a half months, thousands of Bhutanese have come forward to support Project 108. Some made their offerings in person at the project office, while others contributed through internet banking and other digital payment services.
The campaign has so far raised over Nu 17 M from within Bhutan, while international donors have contributed around USD 70,000.

“We have received contributions from thousands of Bhutanese, both from those who came to our office in person and those who contributed through various internet banking services. This strong participation has given the project a solid foundation. Since so many Bhutanese have already contributed, we will close the domestic donation and offering drive on August 21. However, we will continue to accept offerings from international donors,” said Dasho Tashi Dorji, Lead Spiritual Workstream, GMCA.
Project 108 was envisioned by His Majesty The King on February 21, with the 108 Jangchub Chortens scheduled to be completed in a single day on November 1 this year.
Once completed, the chortens are expected to stand as an offering of peace, compassion and spiritual protection for all humanity.
