Dorji Lopen confers Tashi Lekdhar to Khenpo, meditation masters and Lams

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body conferred Tashi Lekdhar to a Shedra Khenpo, five Drupoen or meditation masters, and two community services Lam. They received dhar at the Punakha Dzong today.

43-year-old Dawa Tshering (PhD) has been appointed as the Shedra Khenpo of Dagapela Shedra in Dagana. He joined monkhood at the age of nine and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He completed his three-year retreat at Chari Meditation Centre and served as a lecturer at Talo Shedra. Prior to the present post, he served as a lecturer at Rinchenling Shedra.

And 52-year-old Sangay Dorji has been appointed as the Meditation Master of Goen Zabsel Meditation Centre in Gasa. He enrolled in Punthim Dratshang at the age of 11 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He completed the three-year retreat more than four times at several meditation centres. He also served as a Kangjupa at Dochoten and Tashichhodzong prior to the present post.

The new Meditation Master of Zhinchen Gatshelling Meditation Centre at Nalandra in Punakha is 55-year-old Lodroe. He joined the Central Monastic Body at the age of 12 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He completed his three-year meditation retreat at Tango Dzong Meditation Centre.

Similarly, Wangchuk has been appointed as the Meditation Master of Rinchenling Meditation Centre, Khotokha in Wangdue Phodrang. He enrolled in the monk body at the age of 11 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He had completed the three-year meditation retreat at Pelgeri Meditation Centre. Prior to this appointment, he served as the personal attendant of His Holiness the late 68th Je Khenpo Tenzin Doendrup and served as the Meditation Master of Rinchenling Meditation Centre.

The Meditation Master of Sha Dechencholing Meditation Centre in Wangdue Phodrang is 48-year-old Sonam Tshering. He enrolled in the Central Monastic Body at the age of seven and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He completed his three-year meditation retreat at Chari Meditation Centre and Dolung Meditation Centre. He also served as the Meditation Master at Sha Dechencholing Meditation Centre.

Dorji Gyelpo is the Meditation Master of Tshelung Yoesel Chholing in Thimphu. He enrolled in the monastic body at the age of seven and pursued higher Buddhist studies at Talo Shedra and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He completed his three-year meditation retreat at Drolung Sangngag Choling Meditation Centre. Prior to his present post, he served as the Retreat Master of Tshelung Yoesel Chholing Meditation Centre.

Kinley Namgay from Bjena Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Lam of Jabar Yangchen Gonpa in Paro. The 52-year-old enrolled in the monk body at the age of fourteen and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He had completed his three-year meditation retreat at Chari Meditation Centre. Prior to his present post, he served as an accountant at the Rajgir Bhutan Temple in India.

And 42-year-old Yeshi Dorji from Gase Tshogom Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang has been appointed as the Community Services Lam at Kuenzang Dechen and Patsekha village in Thimphu. He enrolled in the monk body at the age of eight and underwent monastic training in various disciplines including mask dances, mandala construction, ritual performance, and monastic discipline. He completed the three-year retreat at Chizhi Sonam Gatshel Meditation Centre. Prior to his present post, he served at Chizhi Gonpa Meditation Centre and Kuenzang Dechen Meditation Centre.
