If everything goes well, 24-year-old Jigme Pelden Dorji will be the first Bhutanese to scale Mount Everest, the tallest peak in the world. Jigme and the Everest expedition team are headed towards Camp One, today.
The team will have to ascend four camps before the summit of Mount Everest, which is 8,850 metres above sea level. Jigme reached the Base Camp, last month, for acclimatisation and started his training on ice. He also reached the summit of Labuche Peak, which is 6,170 metres above sea level on the 24th of April.
On average, reaching the summit of Everest and returning takes about two months.
