Hong Kong, China have been crowned champions of the Lotus Cup Women’s T20 International Tri-Series 2026 after a commanding win over hosts Bhutan in the final played in Gelephu today. Completing an unbeaten run in the tournament, the 22nd-ranked side in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings defeated Bhutan by 97 runs to lift the trophy.

After winning the toss, Bhutan opted to field first, but their usually reliable bowling and fielding unit struggled on the day. Missed chances, dropped catches, and costly misfielding allowed Hong Kong, China to build a strong innings.

Capitalising on the opportunities, Hong Kong, China’s opening batters both scored half-centuries, setting a solid platform. Their captain then led from the front with a composed unbeaten 73, steering her side to a formidable total of 182 for 2 in 20 overs, the highest score recorded in the series.

In response, Bhutan faced a challenging chase from the outset. The Dragon girls were unable to build momentum and lost early wickets as Hong Kong, China’s bowlers and fielders maintained tight control. By the end of the 20 overs, Bhutan were restricted to 85 for 7.

“It is a very proud moment for us as we are playing the finals for the first time. Day by day and match by match, our girls are improving, and I hope they continue to grow and that we will win a cup in the future,” said Anju Gurung, Team Captain, Bhutan Cricket.

Despite Hong Kong, China being crowned champions, Bhutan’s maiden appearance in the Lotus Cup final marks a major milestone and reflects their steady progress in international women’s cricket.
