The Gelephu Mindfulness City has appointed former Auditor General Tashi as the Head of its Audit and Corruption Investigation Bureau (ACIB) in Gelephu today. With his appointment, GMC aims to set a strong foundation for transparency and zero tolerance towards corruption.
Tashi served as Bhutan’s third Auditor General from 2020 to 2025. He brings with him over 30 years of experience in auditing from the Royal Audit Authority, the country’s independent constitutional body mandated to uphold accountability, transparency, and integrity in public institutions.
Unlike the national system, where audit, anti-corruption, and prosecution functions are managed by separate agencies, the Gelephu Mindfulness City will integrate all three under a single body—the Audit and Corruption Investigation Bureau.
He said, “Based on the audit report, we will investigate and will carry out our own investigation. We will also carry out investigations on complaints received. We will also prosecute the case. That is the advantage. So investigation and prosecution will be done together. I am hopeful that in years to come, we can make GMC one of the cleanest cities.”
He said the task ahead is demanding, but the bureau stands ready to take all necessary measures to ensure zero tolerance for corruption.
