Trashigang district now has a recreational park. What was once a barren land filled with huge boulders and thick bushes in Lungten Zampa has been transformed into a beautiful green space. The recreational park was inaugurated yesterday, coinciding with the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
The area had remained barren, covered with huge boulders and thick bushes for more than two decades after a flood damaged it in 2004.
The area is located along Rangjung-Trashigang highway.
The development works began in February this year.
Thinley Tenzin, a resident said, “Earlier we go to Kanglung but the place is cold. This new park is not far and the place is suitable without much risk.”
Kelzang Yangdon, a student said, “While studying, we students often get stressed. With such facilities, we can enjoy the fresh air and rest peacefully.”
Trashigang district administration developed the park with financial support of Nu 5.5 M from the Government of India.
Once a forgotten stretch of land now becomes a place where families gather, children play, and the community comes alive again.
