In a gesture that reflects the enduring friendship between Bhutan and India, the first group of De-suung departed for Gaya yesterday to take part in the India-Bhutan Youth Friendship Camp. The programme aims to deepen cultural exchange and foster meaningful discussions in areas of mutual interest, further strengthening the close ties between the two nations.

During the week-long programme, which runs until next Thursday, 60 De-suups will be based at the Officers Training Academy, where they will engage and interact with members of India’s National Cadet Corps, fostering friendship, cultural exchange, and shared learning.

“They will also hold discussions on environmental conservation, disaster management, corruption and youth leadership,” said De-suup Tandy, Chief Planning Officer with De-suung Office.

“Bhutanese are great people and we have a lot to learn from them and vice-versa. So, this is a great initiative by both the Prime Ministers and of course with the blessing of His Majesty The King. It is going to be beneficial for both the countries and of course our children,” said Lt. Colonel Anup Kumar from NCC OTA, India.

Officials from the De-suung office said the camp will not only strengthen friendship between the two countries, but provide a valuable platform for the De-suups to explore new opportunities for personal growth and development. The exchange programme is set to become an annual event, with the National Cadet Corps from India visiting Bhutan in the next phase.
