Thimphu District Court rules BBS CEO termination lawful and valid

The Thimphu District Court has ruled that the termination of the BBS’ CEO was lawful and procedurally valid.

The board of the Bhutan Broadcasting Service terminated the contract of the CEO in February for misconduct and weak leadership.

The CEO had challenged the decision, citing good past performance and bias, but the court rejected his claims.

It noted he was aware of the termination clause and failed to contest it in time.

While denying his reinstatement, the court ordered the board to pay his post-service benefits within a month, as outlined in their agreement.

The judgment was passed today.

Both parties have ten days to appeal to a higher court if they are not satisfied with the judgment.
