To strengthen the foundations of cricket across the continent, coaches from 14 Asian countries are undergoing the International Cricket Council (ICC) Level 3 Coaching Course. ICC says the Level 3 Coaching Course is one of the highest qualifications for cricket coaches. The coaching programme began today.
Currently, four master educators are providing advanced training in technical skills, game strategy, player management, and leadership to 21 coaches.
Among the participants are Sri Lanka’s World Cup winning batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and Pakistani duo Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez.
“We have realised that we have to enhance the performance of coaches and to do that, ICC created a training education programme, and level 3 is the highest level of coaching to learn about high-performance coaching. We have chosen Bhutan, it has been very successful and consistent with many areas, especially in the grassroots levels of cricket,” said Md Aminul Islam, an ICC development Officer from Bangladesh.
Bhutan Cricket Council says the course represents a step forward for the country’s ambition in cricket development.
“It shows how Bhutan Cricket is growing and gaining popularity on the international stage. As an attendee of this course, I feel that these five days of coaching will help me enhance my coaching skills, which I can later pass on to my players to develop their skills, techniques, and tactical understanding,” said Kencho Norbu, the men’s development officer with the Bhutan Cricket Council Board.
Throughout the five-day course, participants will engage in both theoretical and practical sessions designed to raise the quality of cricket coaching.
