(Update): Fire in Monggar continues to rage on for the third day burning hundreds of acres of forest cover. The fire, which began on Friday afternoon in Gyalpoizhing spread across Wamling last night. It crossed Pongchula Lhakhag but the firefighters managed to save the Lhakhang.

Our reporter, Kuenga Tashi, says the fire is moving towards Jayphu Lhakhang.

Forest officials from the range offices in Monggar, the police, the kurichu staff and the local people are battling the fire.
