As a youth reporter, Meera Regmi from Khangkhu Middle Secondary School in Paro will be attending the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. For that spot, more than 200 students from four schools participated in the competition.

Meera Regmi, a Class 10 student, was selected at the OCA-OS Regional Forum 2025 in Thimphu yesterday after competing against seven finalists. The selection process included writing tests.

She, along with youth reporters from other countries, will be writing about the 2026 Asian Games on the Olympic Council of Asia’s website and social media.

“I will be representing Bhutan at the 2026 Asian Games, which will be held in Japan. So, it is a huge honour, and then that honour comes with a lot of burden as well. But then I will make sure to make my country proud as a youth reporter.”

Jeans Zhou Jian, Director of Media and Broadcast, Olympic Council of Asia said “The winner of this programme will represent OCA, as well as the Bhutan Olympic Committee, to attend next year’s Nagoya Asian Games. They will write stories during the entire game period. The OCA official website, OCA without Asia, as well as OCA social media, will use their writing.”

Over 350 students also participated in the Asian Games Art Competition, and the top 20 artworks were displayed at the OCA-OS Regional Forum yesterday.

The top four will also be showcased at next year’s Asian Games, highlighting inclusivity and unity in sports.

Shelkhar Zangmo Namgyal, winner of the Asian Games Art Competition said “So, when I first got here, I was very nervous, but I was also excited to see whose art would get selected. And my experience out here was very wonderful because I got to make new friends and see their art, and I also learn so many new things.”

Rishika Darjee, also a winner of the Asian Games Art Competition said “I was a bit nervous and shy when I first arrived. But after meeting new friends, I had the chance to interact with many people. At first, I was anxious about whether my artwork would be selected, but in the end, it was, and I feel truly grateful.”

The two-day OCA-OS Regional Forum concluded today. It focused on Olympic solidarity, athlete development, and preparation for major upcoming events, including the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and Asian Indoor and 2026 Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia.
