Commemorating the 9th birthday of His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, the Gyalsup for Gyalsung programme was launched across five Gyalsung Academies today. Marking the beginning of the first National Service Duty, the first cohort of Gyalsups will engage in the ongoing construction and maintenance of Gyalsung Academies for three months as part of the programme.
More than 350 (352) Gyalsups are undertaking the National Service Duty as part of the Gyalsup for Gyalsung programme across five Gyalsung Academies.
Gyalsung Academy at Taraythang in Sarpang has the highest number of participants with 154 Gyalsups of which 75 are male and 79 are female.
The Gyalsup for Gyalsung programme intends to enhance the capabilities of the Gyalsups by providing skilling opportunities in the field of construction through hands-on training.
Over the next three months, they will acquire skills in masonry, tiling, painting, welding, plumbing, electrical, and woodworks from experienced industry professionals from Bhutan and abroad.
Meanwhile, Gyalsung Infra has trained and engaged 6,761 De-suups at the five Gyalsung Academy sites in all aspects of construction, including specialisation in the construction and maintenance of sports facilities such as artificial turfs and synthetic tracks since 2022.
