The National Council did not adopt the Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2024 today. The Bill fell short of the required 13 votes to be passed. The National Assembly unanimously adopted the Bill in the summer session of the Parliament and forwarded it to the National Council. Meanwhile, the House adopted the National Assembly (Amendment) Bill 2024 and the Cattle Tax Exemption Bill 2024. The majority of the members were in favour of both the Bills, which will now be forwarded to the National Assembly.
