Bhutan concluded their campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Sub-Regional Qualifier B with a narrow five-wicket defeat to Cambodia at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, Qatar, today.

Despite putting up a spirited fight across all departments, Bhutan fell short in their final match of the tournament. Batting first, Bhutan set a total of 123 for seven, with a steady 46 from Jigme Singye anchoring the innings.

Cambodia’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Gulam Murtaza, kept Bhutan’s scoring rate under control. Murtaza’s impressive figures of three wickets for 19 runs earned him the player of the match award. In reply, Cambodia chased down the target in 18.4 overs, with Etienne Beukes guiding the
innings with an unbeaten 31.

Bhutan’s bowlers fought valiantly but could not prevent Cambodia from completing the chase. This result marks Bhutan’s sixth consecutive loss in the tournament, placing them at the bottom of the table. The team will return to the country on Saturday.
