Gyalpoizhing-DechenSingyeDechen Singye, booked for criminal charges in the Gyalpoizhing land case, presented his second rebuttal statement to the Monggar district court today. Dechen Singye is a building inspector and the then Secretary of the Land Allotment Committee in Gyalpoizhing.

Dechen Singye, the Home Minister and the Speaker have been charged for official misconduct, including fraud and forgery while allotting land in Gyalpoizhing.

He is also accused of allotting plot to his sister.

In his statement, Dechen Singye denied all the charges pressed against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission. He said he applied for a plot in Gyalposhing on his younger sister’s behalf, who had given a verbal authorization over the phone. He said he had with no intention to deceive the government.

One of the key issues raised by Dechen Singye in today’s statement the suspension order against him. He argued that his suspension order should be lifted like the other two defendants, the Speaker Jigme Tshultim and Home Minister, Minjur Dorji, who are also booked for criminal charges.

He argued that the nature of the case is the same with two of them. He said it is not fair to impose suspension order to him and lift for the two other defendants. The suspension order, he said has affected him and his family.

Since the Anti Corruption Commission had no other rebuttal submission to submit, the court will start evidence hearing from January 10.

The Mongar District court also conducted four separate hearings for the committee members involved in Gyalpoizhing land case.
