13-year-old-boy-attempts-rape-5-yr-old-girlThe Dorokha police in Samtse have detained a 13-year-old boy for allegedly attempting to rape a five-year-old girl child.  The suspect is a student of Dorokha Middle Secondary School.

On December 30, the girl’s parents had lodged a complaint against the boy after their neighbour’s babysitter informed them about the “incident”.

However, the boy’s father says the allegation is baseless and that the girl’s parents reported the case to the police without concrete evidence.

The girl was sent for a medical checkup to Dorokha Basic Health Unit and the health officials found no tear or injury or any sign of attempt to rape. The police further referred the girl to Samtse hospital. There too the result came out as negative.

Samtse hospital’s Dr. Kashinath Sharma, said there has been a time gap of more than a week after the reported incidence and the immediate evidence might have been lost even if there was an attempt.

The minor has now been referred to Thimphu Referral hospital for forensics for further confirmation.
