The 34th session of the National Council will begin tomorrow. At the press conference today, the chairpersons of six committees presented an overview of the agendas to be deliberated in the upcoming session.

This session will discuss five bills, six review reports, and an agreement. The bills include the Marriage (Amendment) Bill, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (Amendment) Bill, the National Assembly (Amendment) Bill, the Goods and Services Bill, and the Cattle Tax Exemption Bill.

Additionally, follow-up reports on the resolutions of the 33rd session, an interim report on the state of tourism, and review reports on education-related legislation, rural credit access, the state of media, and the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Annual Report 2023–2024 will be deliberated.

The Air Service Agreement between the governments of Bhutan and Kuwait will also be discussed.

Meanwhile, a Special Committee for Education has been specifically formed to review issues and opportunities in the education sector. The committee studied the impacts of the Bhutan Education Blueprint 2014–2024 and examined international best practices in education. Moreover, the committee examined teacher skill development, and education-related legislation to enhance the quality, accessibility, and relevance of education in the 21st century.

The joint sitting of the parliament will deliberate on the Performance Audit Report on State Mining Corporation Limited.

The council session will end on 10th December.
