BKP-DCT-RegistersECBTwo aspiring political parties, Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party and Druk Chirwang Tshogpa, have been registered with the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) taking the number of registered political parties in the country to four.

A notification from the ECB states that Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party, formed by a group of 253 Registered Voters of Bhutan representing the 20 Dzongkhags, is approved for registration as a Political Party.

Another notification says Druk Chirwang Tshogpa, formed by a group of 233 Registered Voters of Bhutan representing the 20 Dzongkhags, is approved for registration as a Political Party.

The registrations of both the parties were approved after considering certain prerequisites.

For Druk Chirwang Tshogpa, it was rectifying the Election Symbol not to resemble the logo of “De-Suung”, a national symbol and exclude and deregister all individuals enrolled as its members without confirming their status as registered voters and fees collected be reimbursed among others.

For Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party, not to restrict a registered member to deregister and join another party as long as they are not members of two or more Parties at a given point of time and also commit that the Party Charter will provide for only one Party President, among others.

The ECB has asked both the Parties to submit Party Charter, copy of the statement of accounts and a complete list of registered members who shall be the candidate-designate among others, to be eligible to participate in 2013 elections.
