During the Meet The Press session today, the education and skills development minister said that the ministry will work on establishing a college in Tsirang. The minister said that the government is working on other prioritised activities for now. The government pledged to establish a college in Tsirang during its election campaign.

The minister said the government will establish the college within their five-year term.

Yeezang De Thapa, Education and Skills Development Minister said “in five years, we will complete what we have pledged. For now, the government is prioritising other urgent issues such as education, health, infrastructure and economy. After completing these urgent priorities, we will work on establishing a college at Tsirang.”

Residents of Tsirang have welcomed the news, saying that the district has several suitable locations for establishing a college.

Mon Bdr. Dhahal, a resident said “establishing a college in Tsirang is important. The location is suitable here. The district has peaceful environment and favourable climate. Having a college will also benefit a few neighbouring districts.”

Bhagi Rath Sanyasi, another resident said “people have been hoping for a college in the district. Having a college will particularly benefit low-income families residing in rural areas. We would be grateful if the government could establish a college.”

The government pledged to establish a college in Tsirang through a Public-Private Partnership model focused on promoting new ICT and economy drives of the country.

Meanwhile, with the government hinting at delivering their promise, people on social media are questioning the future of the College of Language and Culture Studies in Taktse, which has seen all of its courses phased out.
