Speaker-Gyalpoizhing-Land-Case(Gyalpoizhing land update): The National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Tshultim, said he did not violate any Royal Kashos or laws. He was speaking at the Monggar District Court while submitting his open statement on the Gyalpoizhing land this morning.

According to the Speaker, the plots were allotted in line with the proper procedure under the Command of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo through the Dzongda Chichap, the regional administrator then.

He added that as the Monggar Dzongda, he had allotted plots in several small towns like Sengor, Dramedtse, Lingmithang and Yadi.

The Speaker also stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started to investigate the issue only after a newspaper reported on it adding that the Opposition Leader’s brother worked in one of the papers.

His Statement also questioned the ACC on the Constitutionality, retroactive compliances and locus standing.

The next hearing is scheduled on January 7.
