In Sarpang, the Gelephu Thromde will be blacktopping the road leading to Serzhong crematorium. People using the road have been expressing concerns over the road’s bad condition due to the lack of blacktop. The crematorium which falls within Serzhong Gewog has been handed over to Gelephu Thromde for management as the gewog did not have enough funds.

Considering public concerns over the bad road condition, Gelephu Thromde decided to blacktop the road towards crematorium during the recent Thromde Tshogde.

The crematorium is located close to the Mao River, roughly 500 meters below the Gelephu-Taraythang road.

“Thromde did not obtain landownership of the crematorium but we were asked to look after its management. The condition of the road is bad. Our Chief Engineer’s estimation for the blacktop of the approach road from Serzhong till the crematorium is around Nu 1.2 M. We approved the blacktopping proposal in this financial year,” said Tshering Norbu, Gelephu Thrompon.

According to the Thrompon, blacktopping the approach road will ease the burden for commuters, especially during rainy days.

Serzhong crematorium is around 10 kilometres from Gelephu Throm.
