Petrol and diesel prices have decreased by nearly Nu 4 in the capital since the last price revision at the beginning of the month. Fuel prices in Bhutan have consistently declined across all districts in September, marking the third consecutive month of falling prices. The price of fuel is revised twice a month in the country.

According to the latest data from the Department of Trade, diesel prices have dropped significantly across all regions.

In Thimphu, the price of diesel fell from Nu 66.6 to Nu 62.82 per litre in the latest revision this morning.

Similarly, in Phuentsholing, the price dropped by nearly Nu 4 to just over Nu 60 per litre. Gelephu and Trashigang also experienced a similar decrease.

Meanwhile, there is also good news for petrol vehicle owners, as petrol prices have declined across the country.

In Thimphu, the price of petrol dropped from Nu 63.81 per litre to Nu 60.54. In Phuentsholing, petrol now costs only Nu 58.14 per litre.

The latest petrol prices per litre are Nu 59.81 in Gelephu and Nu 62.99 in Trashigang.

Globally, according to media reports, crude oil prices have hit their lowest point in nearly three years, improving the profitability of fuel marketing companies and paving the way for reduced fuel prices at the pump.

India’s petroleum ministry reported that the price of crude oil in India fell from almost USD 90 a barrel to USD 71 on September 8. Fuel prices in Bhutan are directly impacted by prices in India.
