The Bhutan Innovation Forum (BIF) is set to make its mark on the global stage, bringing together a diverse group of thought leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs from around the world. Scheduled to take place at the Dungkar Dzong in Pangbisa, Paro from the 1st to the 3rd of October, the event will host key discussions on mindfulness, sustainable development, and cutting-edge technologies.

The Bhutan Innovation Forum will be a platform where global leaders and local innovators can discuss how mindful living can help build sustainable and innovative economies in the 21st century.

The Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) is funding the forum’s key aspects, such as venue logistics and event management.

“The Bhutan Innovation Forum provides that platform for global leaders, global thought leaders, and our innovators and entrepreneurs in the region and the country in creating 21st-century living standards. And also at the same time, bringing opportunities to invest in the right industries, which will be of value for Bhutan in the future,” said Ujjwal Deep Dahal, the CEO of Druk Holding and Investments.

He added that the forum will give Bhutanese students, professionals, and innovators the chance to network and discuss topics like entrepreneurship, investments, and new technologies such as artificial intelligence, biotech, blockchain, and material science.

The Bhutan Innovation Forum will also see important presentations and discussions about the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

“The architect will be presenting the Gelephu Mindfulness City’s architectural plan and design. This will be an opportunity to understand GMC better, but at the same time, see how each of us can contribute by building global networks and sustainable relationships,” added the CEO of Druk Holding and Investments.

Additionally, the organisers said that the forum has the potential to shape the future of the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

“What sets BIF apart from other global events is the direct impact it will have on shaping GMC. Attendees will feel a sense of ownership, as their ideas contribute to the development of the city. This level of engagement and the realisation of ideas is something unique to the forum,” said Phuntsho Namgay, the officiating director at DHI Innotech.

The event will focus on three main themes over the three days; mindfulness and innovation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship and sustainability.

Around 90 speakers, including Nobel laureates, international experts, and local innovators, are confirmed to be part of the forum.

“We are looking at individuals making a significant impact in this space, and ensuring diversity of perspectives by including Bhutanese professionals from different sectors,” said Zeerie Chhodoen, associate analyst at Druk Holding and Investments.

Over 1,000 participants are expected to attend the Bhutan Innovation Forum, with a balanced mix of both international and local attendees.
