The core town area of Gelephu Thromde is undergoing a transformation. Following a notification from the thromde, building owners have been directed to repair their deteriorating pavements and replace worn-out structures including ceilings to prevent birds from nesting. This effort is part of a broader initiative to revitalise the town, making it more attractive to visitors of Gelephu Mindfulness City.

While some building owners in Gelephu Thromde‘s core town have yet to begin, most have begun repairing the pavements in front of their buildings and other dilapidated structures.

During a recent public meeting, Gelephu Thrompon urged building owners who have not yet completed the necessary repairs to do so promptly.

In addition, the people have been encouraged to beautify the spaces around their buildings to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Gelephu’s core town.

“Some of our building owners residing in other parts of the country have neglected the maintenance of their properties, causing inconvenience for the businesses operating there. While shopkeepers are expected to pay rent on time, the properties are not being properly maintained. The severely worn-out pavements in front of these buildings look bad. However, after our requests, some building owners have started fixing and repairing their buildings and we expect those who haven’t begun to do so soon,” said Tshering Norbu, Gelephu Thrompon.

Gelephu Thromde’s core town area has around 162 buildings.
