Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) revealed its interim president even as the Party submitted its application for registration with the Election Commission of Bhutan today.

A former Drangpon of the High Court, Jigme Zangpo, 62, took three months to decide to steer DNT.  “…Now I am in Nyamrup, I am committed to serve the people,” says Jigme Zangpo.

…We will include everyone in decision making. It is not going to be one-man show.”

He worked as a civil servant for 40 years. After he retired in 2010, Jigme Zangpo moved back to his village Masangdaza in Monggar. “I always dreamt of going back to my village and look after my aged parents and in-laws.” He said he experienced almost two years of memorable stay in the village.

Jigme Zangpo was approached by two political parties. He chose DNT because he thought the Party’s ideology of social democracy in Freedom, Justice and solidarity was similar to his values and principles.

Jigme Zangpo will be the face of the party until the Party’s convention. Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa will hold their first national convention after the Party’s  registration with the  ECB is complete.
