Dorji Lopen appoints Principals and Lam for various monastic institutions

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body appointed three Lams and Principals for various monastic institutions at the Tashichhodzong today. The new appointees are the Principals of Sanga Zabdhen Phodrang Shedra in Thimphu and Sangchen Dorji Lhuendup Nunnery in Punakha and Rajgir Lam.

The new Principal of Sanga Zabdhen Phodrang Shedra in Thimphu is Khenpo Yeshi Dorji from Lobesa in Punakha. He was enrolled at Dechen Phodrang monastic school at the age of 12.

He studied at Tango and received teachings from His Holiness the late Je Thrizur and former Lopens of the Central Monastic Body.

He then served as teacher and Khenpo at various monastic schools and Buddhist University.

Similarly, new Principal of Sangchen Dorji Lhuendup Nunnery in Punakha is Sonam Gyeltshen from Isuna in Paro. The 44-year-old was enrolled in Dechen Phodrang monastic school at the age of nine. He then studied in India for a decade.

He served as teacher at various monastic schools and received teachings. Prior to this appointment, he was the Vice-Principal of Leyshey Juney monastic school.

And 48-year-old Khenpo Leki Khandu from Da-lu-kha in Thimphu has been appointed as the Lam of Rajgir in India. He was enrolled in monastic school at the age of 13 and received teachings from various Lams and former Lopens of the Central Monastic Body.

He then served as Principal of Chizhi Goenpa and underwent a three-year retreat twice. Prior to the current post, he served as the Khenpo of Phuentshogling Pelden Tashi Choling Shedra.
