To promote the global application of the Buddhist art of happiness, the first Buddhist Art of Happiness Conference was held at Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University in Thimphu yesterday.

The Leytshog Lopen of the Central Monastic Body also attended the conference. This event was a joint collaboration between Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University and Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University.

Speakers at the conference discussed achieving happiness through Buddhism and the similarities between Theravada and Vajrayana Buddhism. This seminar is part of Chulalongkorn University’s efforts to improve the monastic education system.

The two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2018, after which Chulalongkorn University began providing scholarships to Bhutanese monks. Additionally, the university will provide scholarships to six monks, with two each for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies.
