Bhutanese gaming enthusiasts will soon be able to get their hands on our very own adventure game. Pin Zhi, a 2D adventure game, takes gamers on a quest for the four magical animals, the Thuenpa Puen Zhi. A team of eight DeSuups developed the game, infusing Bhutanese culture with modern game design.

Gamers will play as the main character, Pema, a compassionate and brave young girl from a remote village.

Pema ventures through dense forests, facing harsh weather, wild animals, and poisonous plants in her quest to find the Thuenpa Pin Zhi.

The Pin Zhi development team is led by Casper Bodewitz from the Netherlands, a trainer with the DeSuung Skilling Programme.

The team took four months to prototype the game under the DeSuung Skilling Programme and an additional six months to develop it.

“This is the story of our life we are excited to invite you and experience it through our game,” said Namgay Lhamo, Graphic Designer of Green E-Integrated Pvt. Ltd.

The game is being developed by Green E-Integrated Private Limited, a new company that provides talented youth with opportunities to showcase their skills.

“The first one is to showcase through games the rich culture and heritage of Bhutan to the world and make them part of Bhutan’s journey. The second one is to provide a platform for use that is very dedicated and inspired to build the IT industry of Bhutan and give a place to build their skills,” said Casper Bodewitz, Chief Executive Officer of Green E-Integrated Pvt. Ltd.

“Through the De-Suung Skilling Programme, I got an opportunity to skill up myself in the game development programme, sessia programming, and graphic designing. Soon we will launch Bhutan’s first ever game in the world’s largest game-steaming platform, which is known as Steam,” said Ugyen Rinzin, Game Developer at Green E-Integrated Pvt. Ltd.

“We were able to learn many skills and gained a lot of experience under Casper’s guidance. In the future, we will be able to open our own company and provide job opportunities to youth like us,” said Pema Tshering, Office Manager of Green E-Integrated Pvt. Ltd.

Gaming enthusiasts have welcomed the new development.

“I never thought there would be such innovations in our country. I heard that an online game was made in Bhutan. If we have such a game, all the youths will prefer to play the Bhutanese-made game. I hope everyone will come and play it,” said Tandin Tshering, an online gamer.

The game will be released on the 6th of June and will be available on Steam, a video game digital distribution service.
