The longest serving Bhutanese Staff with the Austrian Coordination Office, Ramesh Chhetri, has been awarded the Medal of Merit in Silver by  the Republic of Austria.

According to a press release from the Austrian Development Agency in Thimphu, Ramesh Chhetri is the first citizen of Bhutan being awarded such a high honour of the Republic of Austria for his remarkable contributions to the Austrian– Bhutanese relations.

The Medal of Merit was conferred on Ramesh for outstanding merits for services rendered to the Republic of Austria.

The Head of Mission of the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi, accredited to Bhutan, H.E. Raimund Magis will confer the Medal of Merit to the recipient tomorrow.

Ramesh Chhetri has worked with the Austrian Coordination Office in Thimphu since 1998 as Deputy Head of Office and Programme Officer.

Ramesh Chhetri said he would like to dedicate the award to the excellent cooperation and the joint efforts of the Austrian and Bhutanese Governments. “The relentless support and commitment of their officials made the Austrian-Bhutanese development cooperation such a success,” he said.
