A 41-year-old man is under police custody for the suspected murder of a 61-year-old woman at Daangling village of Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse. The incident is said to have taken place at around 2:30 PM, yesterday.

According to reports, the deceased and the suspect were neighbours, and the incident occurred when the deceased visited the suspect’s house to inquire about attending a funeral in the village.

It was during this interaction that the suspect, for reasons yet unknown, allegedly attacked the woman with a knife on her head, leading to death. The suspect’s mother intervened to stop the attack and sustained severe injuries to her right hand while trying to disarm her son.

Health experts, upon examination, confirmed the cause of death as the fatal blow to the head. The suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime according to police. Health officials and residents said that the suspect has a mental health condition and is currently under medication.

The police, however, are still ascertaining the claim. According to police, the suspect admitted to the crime, explaining that he killed the woman because she frequently visited his home and ate there and that he became frustrated with her. The case is under investigation.
