Drivers might find traffic rules in some districts stricter than those in other districts. Therefore, to bring uniformity in implementing traffic rules and regulations, the Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority has been training traffic police and drivers to understand the Road Safety and Transport Regulations 2021. The five-day training in Phuentshogling concluded today.

If a person below the age of 18 is found driving without a license, some traffic personnel consider it unlicensed driving, while others say it is underage driving.

Officials from the Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority said there is a lack of uniformity.

Similarly, people are not allowed to alter and modify vehicles, such as changing vehicle colours, using different coloured lights, adding stickers, and altering the silencers of the bikes, among others, without approval.

However, while alterations and modifications might be strictly monitored in some districts, they may not be taken as seriously in others.

During the training, BCTA officials explained how and why these alterations can cause safety concerns and why they should be strictly monitored uniformly across the country.

The BCTA officials sensitised traffic personnel and drivers about the Road Safety and Transport Regulations 2021.

They conducted similar training in Gelephu and have plans to conduct it in other districts.
