The Gelegphu- Zhemgang highway has been in bad condition with the onset of monsoon. Despite repeated advice from concern agency to avoid travelling in such a situation, people are sometimes forced to travel via this road.

On 21st of this month, two separate accidents occurred along the Gelegphu – Zhemgang highway. A Jumbo truck was on its way to Panbang to deliver bricks for construction was swept away along with the road formation by a landslide at Ossay.

Similarly, a Santro car got stuck at Boxcutting and an oncoming landslide washed away the car. There were no casualties reported in both cases. However, authorities could not ascertain the number of passengers present in both vehicles during the time of the incidents.

This is the fourth accidents along the Gelegphu – Zhemgang highway this year.
