Thousands attended the three-day mega festival at Norbugang Gewog in Samtse honouring the birthday of His Majesty The King and creating a platform to encourage local talents. The event, organised by the Norbugang Business Community, showcased a mix of renowned and emerging talents from Thimphu and Samtse.

The mega festival brought together residents from various parts of Samtse to celebrate His Majesty The King’s birthday and enjoy performances by local artists. Unlike other music festivals, the event exclusively featured Bhutanese local talents, creating a vibrant and community-centred atmosphere.

SK Lee, the vocalist of The Sixth Sense Revival said, “It’s a great opportunity for us. When we get such opportunities, we feel encouraged. And if we can organise such events, this will immensely help in grooming young talents.”

“I feel privileged to take part in such events which can encourage emerging young artists and help them get a break in the music industry,” said Ganesh Gajamer, The Sixth Sense Revival’s bassist.

“It is a really good opportunity for local artists like us and it gives us experiences to perform and it will inspire aspiring artists as well,” said Anand Rai, a local artist.

The local business community of Norbugang Gewog supported the event to help promote local talents and celebrate His Majesty The King’s birthday.

“One of the main motives is to promote local guys who are into music. Maybe who knows, one day they might take music as a career. And we have the younger generation who are into alcohol and drugs, and we intend that through such events, they would be kept engaged while having a good time,” said Deo Kumar Kafley, the event organiser.

About 10 artists from Thimphu and Samtse took part in the festival. The organisers have plans to conduct the event next year as well.
