Trongsa District Court sentences man to life imprisonment for murdering his mother-in-law

The Trongsa District Court sentenced a 33-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his mother-in-law at Semji village in Nubi Gewog of Trongsa. 

In October last year, the man struck his 53-year-old mother-in-law with a knife and firewood, which ended up killing her. The man was detained from Wangdue Phodrang in November after a 13-day search operation by the police.

According to the judgement, the convict has to pay compensation of more than 200 thousand ngultrum to the family of the deceased. The verdict was passed last week.
